This Is Not Your Average Seaweed Skincare

The Bothnian Sea gives nothing easily.

Wild bladderwrack grows along its rocky shores, and after every storm we dive the coastline to gather only what the sea has already released.

Nothing is farmed, nothing is forced loose

It became the heart of Saaren Taika because our founder Johanna Amnelin had spent a lifetime searching for skincare that worked on her own reactive skin, and found it growing wild on the Bothnian Sea coast.

Built to calm redness, ease irritation and support a compromised skin barrier.

Our Story

Finnish Skincare for Sensitive Skin, Born From Decades of Living With Atopic Eczema

Effective solutions for skin challenges, since 2017

Our founder Johanna has lived with severe eczema and allergies since childhood. Decades of searching for relief led her to create skincare where nature meets clinically proven results.

Saaren Taika was born from that lived experience, to bring sensitive and reactive skin the care that truly works.

"Already as a small child, I had to treat the skin behind my knees and elbows, and on my neck, with special solutions every single evening. At school I was bullied because of my rashes."

Saaren Taika's first product was actually a laundry vinegar, made for a home that needed to be as gentle as the skin living in it.

Chamomile Shea Balm followed in 2017, and Tea Tree Soap soon after, which grew into one of Finland's best known products for troubled skin.

Today, Saaren Taika is both Johanna's vision and a mother and daughter journey.

Johanna's daughter Veera has taken an important role in product development, continuing the family's dedication to creating effective care for sensitive and reactive skin.

Together they combine Johanna's experience and Veera's fresh perspective to make skincare that is innovative and true to its roots.

From eczema and atopic skin challenges to the now iconic Tea Tree Soap and the Bladderwrack Skincare line, the Saaren Taika story keeps growing, rooted in family, nature and science.

Shaped by northern nature, proven by science

It all began in the Finnish archipelago, where the sea, the ice and the seasons shape everything that grows.

We call our skincare green dermocosmetics. High-performance actives meet ingredients that are as natural as possible, without petrolatum, mineral oils or silicones. Every ingredient is chosen to work for the exact skin need the product was developed for, and our key products are clinically tested on real skin, so your skin gets a proven benefit, not just a promise.

This makes our skincare gentle yet effective, created for anyone who has not found relief elsewhere and for anyone who wants responsible, evidence-based choices for their skin.

Each ingredient earns its place through the role it plays in the skin challenge the product was made for, never through a trend or an appealing name on the label.

Crafted with respect for nature

The Finnish archipelago inspires everything we do. Our work unites northern nature, ecological responsibility and sustainability.

We honour tradition and craftsmanship. Our processes are environmentally friendly and quality focused, so our products are kind to your skin and responsible towards nature.

Our wild bladderwrack is hand-gathered from the Bothnian Sea and becomes our own actives, Fucus DuoActive® and Fucus Fusion®.

Each product is made with respect, for both you and the environment.

Who we are

Saaren Taika is a community of people connected by a love of nature, authenticity and wellbeing. Our team brings together expertise from different fields, united by a shared passion, to make the world a little better with natural, sustainable choices.

Although we have grown, we remain a warm hearted family business that values individuality, creativity and courage. For us, Saaren Taika is more than a brand. It is a community where every member matters.

About the company

Founded in Särkisalo, Finland, Saaren Taika is a three-generation family business.

According to a national brand study by IRO Research in January 2026, 56% of Finns recognise Saaren Taika by name, making it Finland's second most recognised Finnish skincare brand, built in under a decade and without outside investors.

Our cult favourite Tea Tree Soap, along with many other products, offers effective care for sensitive skin and supports a more sustainable lifestyle.

Every product you see in this store is developed and made by us in our own cosmetics factory in Perniö, Finland, and shipped to you from there, crafted to the same exacting standards of quality, safety and performance.

We develop for the special needs of sensitive skin and believe in the power of northern nature, proven by science.

Our goal is to support both people and the environment with effective, ecological products that are gentle even on the most demanding skin.

Where we are

Saaren Taika is located in Perniö, right next to Särkisalo, in the heart of Finland's pristine archipelago.

Here, surrounded by nature's purity and strength, our ideas and formulas are born. For us, nature provides both the raw materials and the inspiration, showing how balance and effectiveness can go together.

Our cosmetics factory, shop and warehouse are all here in Perniö, from where we ship worldwide.

All our facilities run on renewable energy.

Built without outside investors

We reached this position without angel investors and without seasoned industry veterans on the board or behind the scenes.

It started instead from Johanna's own product development and a family team learning as they went, one product and one customer at a time.

Every formula is still developed and made in house, in small batches in our own factory in Perniö, the same way it began.

Growing this way has taken longer, but it has let us stay close to every product and to the people who use them.
