It became the heart of Saaren Taika because our founder Johanna Amnelin had spent a lifetime searching for skincare that worked on her own reactive skin, and found it growing wild outside her cottage.

Effective Finnish Skincare for Sensitive Skin, Born From a Genuine Need
Effective solutions for skin challenges, since 2017
Our founder Johanna struggled with skin problems, like severe eczema and allergies, from childhood. Her search for relief inspired her to create skincare where Nordic nature meets clinically tested efficacy.
Saaren Taika was born from this genuine need, to bring nature-powered solutions with proven results to sensitive and reactive skin.
"I remember, already as a small child, having to treat the skin behind my knees and elbows, and on my neck, with special solutions every single evening."
Saaren Taika's first product was actually a laundry vinegar, made for a home that needed to be as gentle as the skin living in it.
Chamomile Shea Balm followed in 2017, and Tea Tree Soap soon after, which grew into one of Finland's best known products for troubled skin.
Today, Saaren Taika is both Johanna's vision and a mother and daughter journey.
Johanna's daughter Veera has taken an important role in product development, continuing the family's dedication to creating effective care for sensitive and reactive skin.
Together they combine Johanna's experience and Veera's fresh perspective to make skincare that is innovative and true to its roots.
From eczema and atopic skin challenges to the now iconic Tea Tree Soap and the Bladderwrack Skincare line, the Saaren Taika story keeps growing, rooted in family, nature and science.

It all began in the Finnish archipelago, where Johanna's love for natural living grew.
She believed that the less processed the ingredient, the better it preserves the nutrients your skin needs for renewal, and that belief is why every Saaren Taika ingredient is chosen for its natural quality first, then confirmed through clinical testing.

Many of our ingredients are locally sourced, like the wild bladderwrack we hand collect from the Bothnian Sea to create our Fucus DuoActive® and Fucus Fusion® active ingredients, and we favour natural, minimally processed raw materials to preserve their nutrients.
Each product is made with respect, for both you and the environment.
Built without outside money
We reached this position without angel investors and without seasoned industry veterans on the board or behind the scenes.
It started instead from Johanna's own product development and a family team learning as they went, one product and one customer at a time.
Every formula is still developed and tested in house, in small batches in our own factory in Perniö, the same way it began.
Growing this way has taken longer, but it has let us stay close to every product and to the people who use them.
