Hydration for Sensitive Skin: Clinically Tested Results Against Irritation and Dryness

Hydration for Sensitive Skin: Clinically Tested Results Against Irritation and Dryness

24H Face Cream for Sensitive Skin, Clinically Tested, Reduced Skin Itching in Just 10 Minutes

Developed for dry, easily irritated skin, our 24H Face Cream has been clinically tested on subjects whose skin is prone to atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, or eczema.

A clinical test conducted under dermatological supervision showed that:

  • Skin hydration increased by 29% (measured with a Corneometer), with improved hydration recorded in 95.5% of participants (21/22)
  • The feeling of itching decreased by 36% within 10 minutes of capsaicin exposure

Saaren Taika 24H Face Cream for Sensitive Skin is fragrance free, rich and creamy in texture yet light on the skin, providing long lasting hydration without a sticky or heavy feeling.

This multi active cream combines two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, an oat derived lipid complex, prebiotics, and Saaren Taika's exclusive Fucus DuoActive® and Fucus Fusion® active ingredients.

Together, they add hydration and barrier supporting ingredients to your skin, helping it feel softer, calmer, and more balanced.

The Feeling of Itching Decreased in the Capsaicin Test Within Just 10 Minutes

The cream's effect on the feeling of skin discomfort was also studied in a separate capsaicin test.

Capsaicin induced itching decreased by an average of 36.5% within ten minutes of applying the cream, compared with the situation before application.

Feeling of Itching in the Capsaicin Sting Test (CST)

  • Itching decreased by 36.5% within 10 minutes of application compared to baseline
  • In the comparison group, water alone reduced itching by 5.7%

How the Capsaicin Sting Test (CST) Was Carried Out

The test was performed on both nasolabial folds (the area between the nose and mouth), with one side treated and the other serving as an untreated comparison side, meaning each participant acted as their own control.

The face was first cleansed. Then 100 mg of capsaicin cream (concentration 0.75 mg/g) was applied to both sides and left to act for 3 minutes.

After that, 100 mg of the test product (24H Face Cream for Sensitive Skin) was applied to the treated side, and 100 microliters of water to the untreated side, and left to act for 10 minutes.

Each participant rated the intensity of stinging, tingling, itching, tightness, burning, or pain on the treated area on a scale of 0 to 10 (0 = no sensation, 10 = maximum intensity).

Ratings were collected at several time points: before capsaicin (Basal), 3 minutes after capsaicin application (T0), and 1, 3, 6, and 10 minutes after applying the product or water (T1m, T3m, T6m, T10m).

Result: the product reduced the feeling of itching by 36.5% within 10 minutes compared to baseline (p = 0.0001), outperforming water alone by 30.9 percentage points at the same time point.

29% More Hydration in Four Weeks, Measured by Device

Skin hydration increased by an average of 29% over four weeks of use.

The result was measured with a Corneometer device, and the change compared to baseline was statistically significant.

95% of Testers Felt Dryness and Tightness Eased

Hydration Was Also Noticeable in How Skin Felt. In a Survey Conducted After Four Weeks:

  • 95% felt their skin's dryness and tightness had eased
  • 95% felt their skin was less irritated and reactive
  • 91% felt their skin was more hydrated
  • 91% felt their skin stayed hydrated all day long
  • 91% felt their skin's surface was smoother and less rough or flaky

Dermatologically Tested on Sensitive Skin

No product related adverse effects were recorded during the four week usage study.

In addition, 91% of testers felt the cream suited their own sensitive skin.

One study participant described her experience like this:

"Really nice to use, leaves the skin hydrated and really soft all day."

Why Do We Develop Products Specifically for Sensitive Skin?

Caring for sensitive skin is personal to me. I'm Johanna Amnelin, founder and product developer of Saaren Taika, and my own atopic, easily reactive skin has been part of my everyday life since childhood.

That's why I want to develop products that consider not only hydration but also skin sensitivity and barrier support.

Alongside my own experience, I have completed a specialist vocational qualification in product development and a diploma in natural cosmetics formulation. I am currently deepening my expertise in the Diploma of Personal Care Formulation programme at the Institute of Personal Care Science in Australia, which will qualify me as a cosmetic chemist.

With the 24H Face Cream too, we wanted to find out how the finished product performs on sensitive skin. That's why its effects were studied under dermatological supervision, both through hydration measurements and by gathering user experiences.

This allows us to share more precisely what has actually been measured about the product and what benefits testers have experienced.
